What is Homeopathy?
Here in the US, most of us just don’t really understand it. But in other places around the world, it is extremely popular and highly trusted as a primary means of effective, affordable health care.
Homeopathy is a holistic healing modality – actually, it is truly the most holistic – but it is not naturopathy, or herbalism, or nutrition. It is its own complete system of healing, trusted by hundreds of millions of people worldwide.
Homeopathy is a unique form of natural medicine that acts on a person’s energetic level. In traditional Chinese medicine, this energy is known as chi or qi; in Ayurveda, it is known as prana. In western medicine, however, this most vital, animating principle of every living being has been pretty much forgotten. Homeopathy uses FDA-approved remedies that are chosen specifically for you to work with your own energy, bringing about true, radiant health.
The goal of homeopathic treatment is to assist, or tune, the body’s systems in healing itself. It is compatible with any prescribed medications; plus, with good homeopathic care, over time you may not need to rely on them.
The U.S. is lagging behind much of the world in its use and acceptance of homeopathy to heal disease. Homeopathy is regularly used by 200 million people worldwide, and this number is continually growing. Its use is considered part of the medical system in much of Europe, Israel, India, and New Zealand, just as you might go to a doctor here in America.
Seeing a Homeopath:
When you see a homeopath, your initial appointment may take over an hour as you discuss in depth your physical, emotional, and mental symptoms and characteristics. After your appointment, the homeopath takes into account all of the information from the session in order to find a homeopathic remedy, chosen specifically for you.
Homeopathic Remedies:
Homeopathic remedies literally use the energy of the natural world in order to tune your system toward healing. They can be made from anything around us – plant, metal, mineral – literally anything. They are created using a unique process in which the energy of the material is repeatedly diluted and potentized into powerful energetic medicine that can heal the body, the mind, and the soul. They are FDA-approved, and completely non-toxic… unlike the chemical compounds offered by modern pharmacies.
Scientific Studies:
Homeopathy does not currently fit into today’s view of what is generally considered scientifically imaginable, at least here in the US. American scientists can’t seem to wrap their heads around it, and its actual mechanism of action is unknown. This is a shame, because it works.
Unfortunately, many of the reasons for the lack of understanding in our homeland are often not even scientific, but rather financial and political. Thankfully though, many other places in the world—across Europe, India, Israel, and others—are leading the US in researching, understanding, and utilizing homeopathy.
Here is a great article on Huffington Post from 2010 about the use of homeopathy in other countries, and why certain places have political barriers against its acceptance:
